It seems that one can really never have too many sounds to play with when it comes time to compose or flesh out a new beat or song. So here’s my new experiment. I’m going to try to post a new sound every couple days, either raw, or manipulated with Ableton Live 7. I’ll post an mp3 preview of the song and make the Live Set downloadable if you want to incorporate it into one of your own creations. I’ll try and stick to the basic Live elements…Simpler and the various effect plugins that come standard. No promises.

This was made from a hollow log my friend and I found washed up on an island in the southern tip of Puget Sound. We took turn dropping rocks and heavy pieces of driftwood on it. I put the wav file into Simpler, cut off the distorted attack, looped the decay, applied a low-pass filter with an envelope, and topped it off with an LFO on the volume and pan.
