Here’s another short audio documentary I made while at MIT. This one is about how one might use ants to do abstract computation, like adding numbers together. The voice you hear is that of Loizos Michael, the computer scientist who came up with the idea.

Kind praise from my MIT advisor Tom Levenson on his Inverse Square Blog–this post seems to have inspired health-care-debate-link-love from Bioephemera and Cosmic Variance. Thanks everybody!
And have you picked up your copy of Newton and the Counterfeiter yet?
I haven’t posted anything recently because I’ve been finishing up a number of projects out here at MIT. I wanted to share this one with everybody, it’s my final project for my New Media Storytelling class at the Media Lab. This is a Twitter visualizer built using Quartz Composer that takes multiple users and […]
I was lucky enough to spend a day with Dave Merrill of the MIT Media lab a couple months back, write about it, and make a video. Now he’s a design rock-star, complete with his own talk at the recent TED conference. Check it out as he explains and demos his “siftables”:
Noted game designer, author, and professor at USC’s School for Cinematic Arts, Chris Swain, gave a talk on the future of video games at MIT on January 28th, 2009. It’s a fascinating look at the current and future roles of video games in society, well worth the two hours if you’re curious. If […]
Last week I checked out the MIT Science Journalism Panel organized by the MIT Careers Office. Jonathan Fildes, Science and Technology reporter for BBC News, Karen Weintraub, Deputy Health/Science Editor for the Boston Globe, and Trisha Gura a freelance science and medical journalist and author of Lying in Weight spoke about a range of issues […]
Noam Chomsky spoke this evening at MIT about Gaza, Israel, and US foreign policy. Here’s the tweetstream, followed by some audio of the talk and the QnA afterwards. (apologies for the crappy audio)

BUILD DAY
It’s a gray Saturday morning and the MIT campus is dead. Empty courtyards testify that most students are either sleeping off last night’s fun, or still attached to a screen after an all-night computer programming session. Some are up, however, and I’m headed to meet them at Build […]
